About Jesse
Jesse Sugarman is a seasoned hospitality professional and creative entrepreneur with over two decades of industry experience. As one of the owners of The Charlatan on Commercial Drive — where he served as General Manager for 10 years prior to becoming Operating Partner in 2017 — Jesse has helped shape one of Vancouver’s most iconic restaurant spaces. He went on to open and design the celebrated supper club Osita, and since 2019, has co-led Osito Events & Catering, curating underground DJ nights and collaborating with local artists and promoters. Most recently Sugarman opened his newest venture, Emporia, a multi-functional restaurant, bar and live music venue featuring west coast comfort food and locally sourced ingredients, bringing his life's work together under one roof which he opened in summer 2025 in Langford, BC.
Jesse’s consulting work includes launching Roses on Adeline in San Francisco, advising local breweries with brand and product development and marketing strategies, as well as developing fresh concepts like Elysium Juice Bar. He also brings strategic insight to industries beyond hospitality, providing business consulting for Box Construction and Iron Grain Contracting. With a rare blend of creative vision and operational know-how, Jesse brings real-world experience and a passion for guest-centric spaces to every project he touches.
